Applications are being accepted for temporary Baggage Porter positions. During hours of operation, checked baggage and oversize items will be transported by porters from the airline ticket counter to the sortation system until construction is completed. This job requires frequently lifting bags or items weighing up to 50 pounds. This job also requires occasionally lifting bags or items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds. Work tasks include bending, stooping and twisting, standing, and walking. Work tasks are repetitive such as loading and stacking bags. Assisting Mobility Services staff as required. The Savannah Airport Commission is accepting applications for a temporary position as a Jobsite Monitor. The employee in this position will provide monitoring of jobsites specific to construction or terminal work sites. This may include guarding gates, providing instructions to construction or jobsite workers and escorting contractors or jobsite workers. The primary function of this position is to ensure that jobsites or construction sites are protected and only authorized contractors and workers are permitted access to the area. The Jobsite Monitor will have an understanding of regulatory language specific to the AOA and Movement Area of the airfield. The Jobsite Monitor is tasked with notifying the Airport Public Safety Department should an unauthorized person attempt to or enter the jobsite or construction site. Monitor the jobsite for compliance to the Airport Security Program and understand what airport credentials are accepted into jobsites or construction zones. Notify the Airport Public Safety Department should an unauthorized individual attempt to access the construction zone or jobsite. Provide instruction and direction to construction workers and jobsite workers. Attend weekly safety and security briefings at the jobsite or construction area. Monitor the movement area of the airfield and ensure contractor vehicles do not access the movement area of the airfield. Ensure all construction workers are out of the construction site and gates are locked and secure before leaving the work site. Contact an airport operations official for breaks and lunch to monitor the exit lane during your break. Must be able to meet and maintain Transportation Security Administration requirements authorizing unescorted access entry to the AOA, sterile area or secured area. Starting Salary: $12.63 per hour.

Position: Ramp Agent
Must display a constant sense of heightened safety awareness as well as a sense of urgency working in an environment that requires consistency in both areas while performing job expectations. • Must be able to safely operate ground equipment in close proximity of aircraft, other ground equipment and ramp personnel. • Must be able to repeatedly stand, kneel, bend, stoop and crawl into cargo compartments of aircraft. • Must be able to repeatedly lift 50-75 pounds without complication. • Assist with load and unload of baggage, cargo, mail and freight. • Assist with all aspects of ground servicing of aircraft including security checks, cabin cleaning, potable water, lavatory servicing, and trash removal. • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while ensuring accuracy of duties. • Must fully understand and comply with contents described in the Employment Manual. • Perform any other ground servicing duties assigned by Leads, Supervisors and Managers as they arise.
Must be willing to work in inclement weather
Must qualify through 10 year background investigation without any pending prosecutions and no disqualifying criminal history. - Marshalls aircraft on the ramp including directing, assisting and parking all arriving, departing and towed aircrafts in accordance with safety policy and procedures.
- Performs wing walker duties to protect the aircraft wing from equipment in the path of pushback and maintains visual contact with the pushback driver to alert the driver of any danger.
- Lifts, loads/unloads, sorts and transfers passenger baggage, airmail, freight and company material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader or baggage carts in a safe manner and within specific time constraints.
- Maintains safety and security of the ramp at all times and complies with safety procedures and station policies.
- Reads and verifies the city and flight number for every bag to ensure correct loading of customer bags.
- Communicates with Operations, Flight Crew personnel and other ground personnel concerning arrival/departure information in a professional manner.
- Drives/operates ramp equipment, including but not limited to bag tugs, belt loaders, aircraft tow tractors and water and lavatory servicing vehicles in a safe manner.
- Services aircraft as needed to include cleaning lavatories and cabin and restocking items.
- Arrives to work on time and at assigned post to ensure prompt servicing of the aircraft and on time departures.
- May work in the baggage make-up area and prioritize baggage load for delivery to the proper aircraft for loading.
- Ensures GSE equipment is in proper working order.
- Other duties as assigned.
