GENERAL TRADES CRAFTSMAN SEMI-SKILLED II

Performs semi-skilled building, grounds and equipment maintenance repair. Duties require ability in such trades as carpentry, electrical, locksmithing, plumbing, sheet metal work, masonry, and painting. Incumbent may be assigned duties under supervision in a specialized area or may perform duties relative to a number of skilled trades with supervision. Must be able to meet and maintain Transportation Security Administration requirements authorizing unescorted access entry to Security Identification Display Area (SIDA). Regular, routine attendance at work is required. Considerable knowledge of the use and application of skilled trades equipment, tools and materials relevant to the area of assignment. Considerable ability to determine types of materials required to perform assigned tasks and to accomplish assigned duties in a skilled fashion requiring minimal supervision. Working skill in reading, writing, and basic mathematics. Considerable skill in the use of tools and equipment applicable to the area of assignment such as planners, power saws, levels, tension applications, files, picks, drills, spray guns, cutting equipment, grinders, rip saws, pipe threaders, routers, cement mixers, soldering irons, pipe dils, pipe crimping machines, flare tools and glass cutters. Ability to operate heavy equipment. Ability to effectively manipulate hand tools. Assist and carry or transport injured personnel in a disaster situation. Ability to read and comprehend plans. Ability to legibly and accurately record information on various report forms. Ability to communicate using a two-way FM radio system. Ability to kneel, bend, stretch, and crawl. Must possess a valid Georgia Drivers’ License. As a safety precaution, hearing ability to detect noises. Vision ability of 20/20 with corrected lens.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a recognized high school or equivalent. Two years of experience as a general trades craftsman in a trade appropriate to the area of assignment. Experience in effectively operating tractors, backhoes, motor graders and other heavy equipment.

ELECTRICIAN I

The Electrician I performs under the direction of the Master Electrician and Facilities Manager. The Electrician I performs skilled electrical work by constructing, installing, maintaining and repairing various electrical wiring systems, electrical controls and electric machinery, as well as, equipment in buildings and the airfield lighting system.

■ Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, switches, distributions panels and outlet boxes, as well as, a wide variety of electrical fixtures and equipment.
■ Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests and adjusts equipment, circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, heating appliances, fire alarms, transformers, regulators, rectifiers, solenoids, rheostats, monitoring systems, and electrical shop equipment.
■ Tests circuits and equipment by use of volUohm meter and meggar.
■ Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits.
■ Inserts, splices and connects wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power source.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• Electrician’s license preferred.
• Completion of formal electrical course work in a technical school or military setting.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of tools and methods of the trade.
• Knowledge of pertinent city, county, or state building codes and safety requirements.

CUSTODIAN I

Applications are being accepted for one full-time Custodian I position. Must be available evenings and weekends. Completion of High School education or equivalent preferred and a minimum of one year of full-time custodial duties is required. Duties are routine and are performed under general supervision. Performs cleaning work in buildings and offices; sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and buffs floors; operates buffing machine and other powered cleaning equipment; dusts, cleans, waxes, washes and polishes furniture, woodwork, and office equipment; polishes metalwork; washes windows and walls, empties and cleans waste receptacles; and cleans restrooms, cleans and vacuums carpets. Ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures. Physical ability to perform the required activities and to handle the materials and equipment used in custodial work. GROUNDSKEEPER I

The Savannah Airport Commission is currently accepting applications for the Temporary Summer Groundskeeper I position. Cuts grass with push mowers, riding mowers and tractors. Trims and edges grass with a variety of manual and powered tools. Applies herbicides and fertilizers, trims and maintains plants shrubs and trees. Applies water to areas requiring watering. Polices right-of-ways by walking or riding in all weather conditions. Sweeps streets, parking lots, gutters, sidewalks and stairwells. Picks up trash as required. Operates and maintains an extensive irrigation system. Repairs street signs, cleans drainage ditches, culverts and other drainage structures. Paints curbs and roadway markings. Scrubs sidewalks and stairs. Cleans and maintains fountain. Assists in removal of dead trees, shrubs, plants and transplanting of new ones. Seals cracks in roadways, parking lots and sidewalks. Cleans vehicles and equipment. Operates light construction equipment. Assists in a variety of construction and repair projects. Performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment and tools. Assists in repair of water and sewage systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance. Familiarity with chemicals used in herbicide, pesticide and fertilizer operations. Knowledge of plant, shrub, tree and grass care. Knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around mechanical equipment, and chemicals. Ability to operate light and heavy, manual and mechanical equipment and tools. Ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, work orders and labels. Ability to work for extended periods of time in all types of weather conditions. CERTIFIED PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER

The Public Safety Officer is required to perform the following: participate in security and other training programs as prescribed by the Airport regulations and policies; ensure that all public areas are properly lighted, controls cases of disturbance, public nuisance, and when necessary, requests assistance from state, or municipal agencies; keep unauthorized persons out of restricted areas; provide general information to passengers and the general public as required; keep supervisors informed of difficulties and problems as related to landside, airside and terminal operations; provide security for passengers and airline personnel during boarding of aircraft in accordance with the Airport Security Program: respond to emergencies and emergency situations (airside and landside) as required; provide notification for emergency medical assistance to sick and injured. Check for all safety hazards, i.e., liquid spills, extension cords, and other hazards to the public traveling through the airport; perform other related work as required.

Investigate incidents, vehicle accidents, enforce traffic laws and regulations and regulate traffic as required. Patrol landside vehicle parking areas and streets, trailer and industrial park areas; inspect Savannah Airport Commission, and tenant buildings and facilities, including the Airport terminal, ramp, Air Cargo Building, Commission Maintenance facility, tenant fuel farms, etc., to detect safety and security problems, hazards or infractions. Respond to calls. Must have ability to work harmoniously with supervisors, management, and co-workers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Walk long distances and stand on feet for long periods of time is to be expected of any officer. Officers must maintain the ability to drive a car, small truck or 4-wheel drive vehicle. Officer will be accountable to meet the physical and mental standards of POST, as well as the ability to fire a weapon and qualify. Must be able to run in pursuit of a suspect and respond to a request for help from the checkpoint. A hearing ability to detect noises, emergency or other radio transmissions is necessary along with vision ability of 20/20 with corrected lens. Officer must obtain the ability to lift 75 to 125 pounds and may be required to assist and carry and/or transport injured personnel in a disaster situation.

Starting Salary: $18.86 per hour.

TRAFFIC SECURITY MONITOR

The Traffic Security Agent will provide for the safety and security of traffic approaching the terminal on upper and lower level curbside. Duties include directing traffic to ensure the terminal traffic is moving efficiently during peak and non-peak periods of the day. In addition to traffic flow the Traffic Security Agent will monitor unattended vehicles parked at curbside and advise the Airport Communications Center of illegally parked vehicle. During non-peak periods the Traffic Security Agent will patrol the parking decks for suspicious activity. The primary function of this position is to keep traffic moving and assist our passengers and airport visitors as they approach the terminal. Providing good customer service to our passengers and visitors to the airport is essential to this position. The Traffic Security Agent is tasked with notifying the Airport Public Safety Department should they observe suspicious activity or a suspicious individual. This is a temporary position.

■ Ability to make competent judgment decisions related to assigned duties.
■ Ability to communicate using a two-way radio system and the telephone.
■ Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and/or written) with others.

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Under general supervision, monitors closed circuit television (CCTV) system, controls access through security gates, operates the base radio system, performs normal and emergency communication duties, and issues NOTAMS.  Work involves shift/rotation and is monitored and supervised by the Captain of Public Safety Department. This position is not considered safety sensitive or require access to the safety sensitive areas as required under Part 1542.

  • High school graduation diploma.
  • One year experience in security/emergency services, or any type of training or exposure that provides the required skills and abilities, is desired Criminal History Records Check and Security Threat Assessment required.
  • Must complete Basic Communications Officers Training Course within the first six months of employment.
  • Sound judgment and good decision-making skills required.
  • Knowledge related to the Airport Security Program and Part 1542.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
  • During emergency conditions, notifies emergency public service agencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan when directed by the Senior Officer on duty.
  • Acts as radio operator for the Savannah Airport Commission base radio system. Coordinates normal and emergency communications as required.
  • Monitors the CCTV system for airport security requirements and immediately notifies Airport Public Safety Officers and Directors of disturbances, problems or emergencies as required.
  • Monitors access on the air operations area, in the terminal and at the front of the terminal, looking for unsafe conditions, security breaches and operational anomalies, all of which are reported to the Senior Officer on duty, by monitoring traffic movement by CCTV and DSX1030 Access Control System {CARDKEY}.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and directs them to the proper extension or number.
  • Must be able to routinely transition from a sitting to standing position.
  • A hearing ability to detect noises, sirens, and emergency or other radio transmissions is necessary along with vision ability of 20/20 with corrected lens.

Salary Range   $16-$22 per hour.

FLOOR CARE SPECIALIST

Performs hard floor and carpet cleaning tasks assigned by Supervisor and/or Shift Leader.  Duties are scheduled and are performed under general supervision. This position is not considered safety sensitive or require access to the safety sensitive areas as required under Part 1542.

  • Performs floor care duties, carpet cleaning and maintenance work in buildings and offices.
  • Sweeps, machine scrubs, mops, strips, waxes and buffs floors.
  • Operates automatic floor scrubber, buffer, burnisher and other powered floor care/cleaning equipment.
  • Vacuums, performs spot removal, wet extraction, and dry cleaning of all carpet types;
  • Operates wide-area vacuum, wet extraction machine, and spot removal machine.
  • Regular, routine attendance at work is required.
  •  Work schedules, to include rotating shifts, hours of work and days off may be changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Knowledge of floor care materials and chemicals, methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of carpet cleaning materials and chemicals; methods and procedures for wet extraction, spotting techniques, spin bonnet cleaning and dry cleaning.
  • Physical ability to perform the required activities and to handle the materials and equipment used in carpet cleaning and floor care work.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, reach and perform work on hands and knees.
  • Ability to maneuver heavy cleaning equipment.

SPRAY TECHNICIAN

Under direction, performs seasonal pesticide spraying on turf, ditches and ornamental landscaping, utilizing backpack and/or tank pressure sprayers.  May be required to perform other landscaping related duties, both skilled and unskilled, as assigned to include mowing, weed-eating, pruning, mulching, and irrigation maintenance. Minimum of two years’ experience in pesticide application in a landscape maintenance environment or equivalent. Formal training in pesticide applications required. Shall have successfully completed a State of Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicators Certificate Course.

Seasonal application of a variety of pesticides such as insecticides, herbicides, aquatic herbicides, fungicides, and other related chemicals, where appropriate and in accordance with all safety guidelines associated with the products used. Operates all equipment related to the application process. Cleans and maintains spray/application equipment. Stores and disposes of chemicals to be applied in accordance with appropriate OSHA and EPA regulations. Prepares written reports and makes recommendations with regard to application needs. Maintains accurate records of where pesticides are applied, what pesticides are used and how much pesticides are used. Remains current on all related issues.

Delta Global Services: Ramp Agent

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the lead agent and/or supervisor on duty, Ramp Agents are responsible for marshalling aircraft in and out of the gate, loading, unloading and sorting freight, mail and baggage in a safe manner while also achieving on-time departures and arrivals. Ramp Agents may also be responsible for servicing aircraft lavatories, cleaning aircraft, restocking items, deicing and other duties as delegated.

Essential Functions:

  • Marshalls aircraft on the ramp including directing, assisting and parking all arriving, departing and towed aircrafts in accordance with safety policy and procedures.
  • Performs wing walker duties to protect the aircraft wing from equipment in the path of pushback and maintains visual contact with the pushback driver to alert the driver of any danger.
  • Lifts, loads/unloads, sorts and transfers passenger baggage, airmail, freight and company material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader or baggage carts in a safe manner and within specific time constraints.
  • Maintains safety and security of the ramp at all times and complies with safety procedures and station policies.
  • Reads and verifies the city and flight number for every bag to ensure correct loading of customer bags.
  • Communicates with Operations, Flight Crew personnel and other ground personnel concerning arrival/departure information in a professional manner.
  • Drives/operates ramp equipment, including but not limited to bag tugs, belt loaders, aircraft tow tractors and water and lavatory servicing vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Services aircraft as needed to include cleaning lavatories and cabin and restocking items.
  • Arrives to work on time and at assigned post to ensure prompt servicing of the aircraft and on time departures.
  • May work in the baggage make-up area and prioritize baggage load for delivery to the proper aircraft for loading.
  • Ensures GSE equipment is in proper working order.
  • Other duties as assigned.
