Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is expecting a busy holiday season, anticipating up to 76,000 total passengers traveling during the week of Thanksgiving. That number is an 8% increase over last year.

The Airport offers the following tips to help passengers prepare for a safe and enjoyable travel experience:

Meeters and Greeters

Cell Phone Lot: Use the free Cell Phone Lot on Aggett Drive to stage before swooping in for a perfectly timed pick-up. Waiting until your passenger calls or texts that they’re curbside helps avoid the need to circle.

Curbside Use: You may stop at the curb only long enough to drop off or pick up travelers. Parking on roadways is not allowed.

Preparing for Your Trip

Check Flight Status: Visit your airline’s website or app for the latest flight updates.

Bag Identification: Place ID tags on the outside and inside of all checked baggage.

Be Ready: Have your boarding pass and REAL ID compliant license, digital ID, or other acceptable alternative identification ready for TSA screening.

CLEAR Mobile Access: CLEAR Mobile provides a dedicated lane for faster security screening. Become a member or purchase a day pass at CLEARME.com, then use the CLEAR Mobile app to access the CLEAR lane.

Prohibited Items: Ensure checked and carry-on bags do not contain prohibited items. A full list is available at TSA.gov or on the TSA mobile app.

Medications & Valuables: Do not pack prescription medications, electronics, jewelry, or other valuables in checked baggage.

TSA Guidelines: Follow the 3-1-1 rule for liquids and gels. Visit TSA.gov for details on permitted items and carry-on recommendations.

Gifts: Leave gifts unwrapped. Wrapped gifts are allowed but may require extra screening.

Arriving at the Airport

Plan Ahead: Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight.

Parking: Keep an eye on airport signs, they’ll steer you smoothly to extra spaces.

Hidden Disability: To help make your journey easier, travelers with non-visible disabilities can request a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower item at the information desk in baggage claim. Find more information at www.hdsunflower.com

Mobility Assistance: Experience the latest in mobility technology with Blueberry Technology Inc BBGo personal mobility vehicles. Explore the airport on your own terms, comfortably and confidently with BBGo. Find more information at www.blueberry.technology

Expect Crowds: The airport will be busy during holiday travel periods. After check-in, proceed promptly through security. Lines are longest during early morning, midday, and late afternoon. Most flights board 30–45 minutes before departure, so clear security early.
