SAVANNAH, GA – 2019 concluded with four years of record-breaking growth for Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. The unprecedented growth is a testament to the strength of the region’s economy and an extraordinary boost in tourism stimulated by lower airfares and the addition of nonstop service to several new destinations over the past few years

A total of 3,021,077 passengers flowed through SAV’s doors with the largest market share going to Delta Airlines at 35%, followed closely by American at 28%, United at 14%, JetBlue 10%, Allegiant 10% Frontier 2%, Air Canada .59% and Sun Country at .22%. The airport finished out the year with an 80% load factor and available seats were up 8%.

2019 was highlighted by the announcement that Allegiant would establish a two-aircraft base at SAV investing $50M to establish the new base linking travelers in small-to-medium cities to the region.

On January 13, 2020, Allegiant announced new nonstop service to Savannah from five cities Belleville, IL; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; Punta Gorda, FL; and Newburgh, NY; with some fares as low as $33 each way. The new nonstop routes will operate twice weekly and will bring nearly 20,0000 passengers to the Savannah/Hilton Head area annually, contributing to visitor spending in the local economy.
