SAVANNAH, GA – Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport has set another record, reaching its highest mark in 2017 with annual passenger statistics that surpassed 2016 numbers by 12%. The year ended with passenger enplanements (boardings) of 1,228,761, and deplanements of 1,234,120, and the Airport serving 2,462,881 passengers.

Market share for airlines serving Savannah/Hilton Head International in 2017 is as follows: Delta Air Lines 40%, American 25%, United Airlines 15%, JetBlue 11%, Allegiant 8%, and Air Canada and Sun Country combined 1%. The Airport finished out the year with an 82% load factor and available seats were up 13%.

“We have worked hard with our air service partners to bring more capacity, additional nonstop departures, and more affordable options to our airport,” said Airport Executive Director, Greg Kelly. He continued, “2017 proved to be a very successful year for us, but as I have stated before, we will not rest on our laurels. We will keep the foot on the gas and look to achieve more air service success in 2018.”

2017 was highlighted by the launch of new seasonal service in May on Canada’s largest domestic and international airline, Air Canada. The flight operates seasonally seven days a week with flights from Toronto Pearson International. And the airport wrapped up the year just prior to the holidays with American Airlines announcing the addition of year-round daily nonstop service to Miami International Airport starting June 7, 2018. The airline will also begin seasonal/daily nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare Airport beginning June 7 through September 4, 2018.
