SAVANNAH, GA – The Savannah Airport Commission today appointed Mr. Gregory B. Kelly as airport Executive Director. Mr. Kelly was appointed Acting Executive Director on July 1, 2013 following the retirement of longtime Executive Director, Mr. Patrick Graham.
“It is with great pleasure and high expectation that the Commission announces the selection of Greg Kelly as the permanent Executive Director of the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport”, said Savannah Airport Commission Chairman Sylvester Formey. He continued, “Greg has worked tirelessly and quietly behind the scenes for years managing several of our most successful accomplishments.”
Mr. Kelly began his career at the Airport in 1989 as an intern. He was made Deputy Director of Maintenance in 1991 and worked in a variety of leadership positions at the Airport throughout his career. “From the airfield and terminal, to our diverse real estate holdings, Greg’s imprimatur is everywhere”, said Mr. Formey. He continued, “With his attention to detail and keen sense for macro-level planning, he has earned the position. The Commission is confident that under his administrative guidance and community outreach, our Airport will maintain and exceed its reputation as a first-class way to fly.”
Mr. Kelly presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives and the Small Airports Committee and the Board of Directors for Airports Council International – North America. He is a former member of the Georgia Airports Association (GAA) Board of Directors, a Past President and a recipient of the GAA Presidents Award. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council, Visit Savannah and the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce. He is an accredited airport executive and candidate for a Masters in Public Administration at Savannah State University.
