Updated: At 8:32 AM on January 6, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport was notified that a general aviation aircraft had crashed adjacent to an airport taxiway. The aircraft, identified as a Pilatus Aircraft Ltd, tail number N978AF, was departing Savannah, GA en route to Lexington, KY.

Airport Fire and Rescue, handled by the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, responded to the crash and found the plane resting in a ditch, west of Taxiway F. The pilot and one passenger were transported to a local hospital. The aircraft is registered to Upper Deck Holdings Inc. of Portsmouth, NH.

The Federal Aviation Administration regional office will be investigating the incident on behalf of the NTSB.
