Savannah/Hilton Head International introduced a new canine explosive detection program at the monthly meeting of the Savannah Airport Commission. Officer Barney, a two-year-old German Shepard, will be on patrol and putting his nose to the test throughout the airport and in response to suspicious items. Barney received his certification through the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Regional K-9 Resource Team and will be partnered with Officer Michael Turturro who joined the Airport Police a year ago.
